2026 marked 100 years of the Women’s South Shore Golf League, and the centennial year came to a close in style. The Centennial Tournament & Celebration on September 9 at Wollaston Golf Club brought golfers together for a Step Aside Scramble on the course, followed by a cocktail hour, dinner and celebration that honored a century of competition, camaraderie and tradition.

The league was founded by women who wanted a structured place to play competitive golf and grow their games. Many of those early members are still recognized across Massachusetts through tournaments that carry their names, and their determination is the reason the league is still going strong a hundred years later.

What has carried WSSGL through a century is the same thing that filled the room on September 9: friendships made on the course, a shared love of the game, and a sense of responsibility to keep women’s golf on the South Shore thriving for the next generation.
